Hi everyone, I'm wondering if you can help me. My rheumatologist wants me to have the Zoledronate infusion but I have read lots on this site about the pros and cons of having it and i m worried and unsure what to do. My Dexascan said -2.4 Osteopenia and with hip fracture risk in 10 years of 0.8% and major risk fracture of 11%. I really don't know if I should go ahead of try to protect myself with diet and Adcal and K2 and excercise. Any advice will be most welcome as my appointment is15th October and I'm so worried. I read this forum every day since getting PM R in Marc h 2017. I'm grateful for all the advice on here.

There have been so many debates on here. If you tap Alendronic Acid into the search box you will be able to see the arguments. Your dexa scan results don’t seem too severe and I sense that you would rather improve your score with the methods you outline. The best thing we can do for ourselves is get moving!

Thank you for that SheffieldJane, that makes me feel a bit more confident in not going ahead (just yet anyway)! Regards

It’s the “get moving” that’s so difficult though.😒

I find that first movements are hard but continued motion seems to get easier. However, that doesn’t deal with my current lack of motivation.

I have only just arrived in this “club” and up till just a couple of weeks ago had always found enough energy to do even just a little quilting everyday(my hobby and income)but even though I got a gorgeous delivery of fabric two days ago I can not motivate myself to actually quilt!! This is unheard of and my other half is actually speechless about it!! But until I feel like sewing I will just go and have a stroke of my lovely fabric instead.

How frustrating! Quilting sounds like such a lovely world. Is it your frame of mind, or is it physically difficult for you?

I find it very interesting how many people mention lack of motivation - I really do think it is part of at least one version of PMR.

Heron’s Osteoporosis journey is an immensely helpful read. 🌞

Just a first person account from someone who started out with absolutely zero information, other than being aware during midlife to take calcium supplements and get some load bearing exercise, the latter supplied by my work in a library. Hefting books around is very good exercise. In retrospect that's probably what saved me, that and walking which I took up when I was deeply depressed around age 40. Otherwise I probably would be hunched over and broken-backed by now, PMR/pred or no.
