Oh gosh I can't even stand socks during the day my feet get so hot! Always sleep with my feet outside the covers. So glad it works for you though.

Obviously, some summer nights it won't be necessary, but I'll tell you that when it's cooler, not only don't I get leg cramps, but I do fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer. That's no mean feat for a 4-6 hour per night sleeper.

Believe it or not, but my O.H. always sleeps in socks - not on hot nights though!! I've always queried why he does this, but I'm still non- the -wiser.

At the moment I'm averaging about 4hrs. Even in the winter my feet are often out of the covers I'm hot stuff!

I usually listen to the radio to help me drop off. The more I want to hear it, the more likely I am to drift off. If I'm not asleep by about 12 I get up. The sofa is comfy and I don't disturb OH with my fidgeting.

I have difficulty if there is nothing good on the radio.

Then there's the problem of staying asleep. I'm often awake by 3.30 or 4am. and get restless so get up again. About once a week I sleep through the night.

I'll try the socks if it gets cold enough this winter, thanks for the tip.

When I was a kid, my mom used to let us stay up as long as we wanted to if we remained in bed and were reading a book.

To this day, my eyes won't close unless my eyes have passed back and forth across a few pages.

My feet are always outside the covers too. I hate that restricted feeling. It's probably why my feet are cold....

I panic if I haven't got a book beside my bed and always have to pack one if going away.

I find my waking patterns seem to be controlled by sunrise time. It doesn't matter that I have blackout curtains, I always wake when it's getting light; this means I'm getting a bit more sleep now than in the summer.

I too dislike the restriction of socks and like to wear sandals until it gets really chilly. (This is during the day, not in bed , of course !)

Thanks for posting, got my socks on. Is it chilly in NY?

No, it's not at all chilly. I can't ever remember it being over 90 degrees F (34C) in September for days on end.

My electric bill is going to be equal to a couple of mortgage payments by the time this summer is finally over. It's either been blazing hot and humid, or raining and warm, which is why the air conditioners at home have been on non-stop since mid-June (and I've been wearing socks to bed).

Honestly, I hate air conditioning, but could not have gotten through this summer without it. It's funny, because I remember still wearing a quilted coat to commute to work well into June. Then it suddenly turned hot, and has pretty much stayed that way all through.

Next up, Hurricanes Florence and Gordon, followed by "Eight" and "Nine" still forming in the Atlantic.

Then, the farmer's Almanac says we're in for a "brutal" winter.

Climate change is real.

I've seen those hurricanes on the news they look dreadful, much worse than most of what we get.

We don't get the extremes of weather that you get but I did wish for AC this summer it's very rare here.

Just had 7 hrs sleep, should be feell human today with luck.
