Moving desks hurts!

Well last week I had to move desk.

Easy job, 2 monitors, laptop, wireless headset and phone charger.

That was the easy bit, next came moving all the cables an putting them back together.

Done it before, no problem!

How wrong I was, I moved as soon as I got in around 7am, by 10am I knew I couldn’t finish the day so off home at 12.

A little sleep will sort things out, well maybe a tiny bit for the evening, but the following morning I couldn't raise my arms, call in sick and rest.

By mid-day I was feeling almost human and that's good for me ;)

All good until Tuesday this week, that was a painful day and Wednesday I took a couple of extra mg's pred to easy things out a bit :)

Thursday was retail therapy day.

I bought a few new toys for my hobby :)

A friend of mine says he knows how I'm feeling by the way I hold the steering wheel, if it's at 10 to 2 I'm doing good, some times I've been down at 6!

Thursday I was at 12, the therapy must have worked :)

I so recognise that story. Just insert anything that requires physical and mental exertion. Also moving desk is stressful on lots of levels. Hot desking almost did for me at work. Glad you are on the up. What an observant friend - a keeper.

I have a static desk, but the office is being rearranged and I had to move. Would hate to hot desk, ours all have single 17" screens and I use 2 * 24" screens :)

And yes, he's a keeper. You should see us setting up for our hobby, we must look very funny, me with PMR and him with a false knee and other issues.

Hi Julian :-). Just to say: I can relate 100%. Lifting, shifting, reaching, stretching, bending, kneeling etc with PMR? Don't tell me about it!

I won't be doing it again. I've been careful, but laying on my back fidling with cables did me in.

I'll be doing a health passport with my boss, get all the things that are an issue recorded so when something comes up I can ask for help nad it has to be provided.

My new toy is also on the heavy side and still a little to add to it. When I have to move it, one hand as the case only has a single handle. Will have to work on carrying with my left arm as that's the best, well at the moment.

It's odd how the silliest, little jobs, put us out of whack! I was tending to my 5-6 potted plants (on a balcony!); sure, I was bending, stretching, lifting, pushing, pulling the pots, etc... but next day you would have thought I had been the Head Gardner at Kew!

Can't say I find any of that surprising...

Indeed, but ones batain tells you "you can do it, you've don e it before".

I won't be doing it again, they can pay somebody to do all the stuff under the desk.

The stuff on the desk is light weight and was easy to carry.
