All clear from Cardiology - hallelujha!

Just had a phone call from Cardiology that my Echo scan showed 'nothing to worry' about. This was following an 'abnormal ECG showing a blip he called it - so carried out the Echo to see more detail. I can now concentrate on taking K2, thanks Heron, as it looks as if incorrect calcium dosage might be the cause of calcification in the wall of the Aorta - apparently this problem can be reversed - hope they're right! It appears my calcium dose was too high for my body to tolerate - I now split the dose and am noticing a difference after only one week in my bladder irritation too - too much of a coincidence or what! Wish Urology (and other Consultants) knew this could be a cause save going through endless procedures ...

Wonderful news - happy for you!

My cardiology tests were also clear - odd heartbeats and differing blood pressure in each arm. I wonder if Calcium was the culprit for me too. It certainly caused bladder irritation which is less now I have stopped Adcal in favour of vit D alone.

Thank you Jane am so happy for you too, what a drag this has on us, I didn't think I was worrying but feel on top of the world this minute in time! I changed from Adcal to Accrete this made matters worse with the bladder and only after Heron advising me have I researched it and found a lesser dose of Adcal and take twice daily. My k2 should be here today, had to order online, so am confident it can only get better. I was so indignant about the heart issue as I do eat healthy and a non-smoker too. I get palpitations and blood pressure issues but overall that is stable so can't complain. :) :)

Can't remember, did I already suggest you consume a little more salt if you, like most of us, have been eating a low salt diet for years? I feel generally better, not PMR niggle-wise, but in energy and hardly any headaches, since I started to eat more salt. It's been hot the last couple of days and after my walk I drank a glass of water and ate a pinch of (delicious) salt! If the salt had tasted horrible I'd know I didn't need it. :)

I'll bear that in mind Heron, many thanks, as we speak I'm putting salt on my sweet potato chips and they taste delicious so .......

In case you can't see my reply to SJ, I'm now taking the K2 and so far so good, no side effects and feeling great, thank you again Heron for your invaluable advice, something so simple and all the 'ologies I've been to have no idea....

Excellent .. I love those kind of phone calls bearing good news: trepidation followed by euphoria :-) Onto the K2, glad you got the calcium sorted out. Keep cool, it's 27C here (I'm sitting in the cross draught between open back/front doors and all windows wide, reading Bill Bryson's 'A Walk in the Woods' and having a rolicking laugh all on my own!)

We're being warned to expect humidex in the 30s this weekend. Hard to believe I had to turn on the heat several times this month!

Love Bill Bryson. About a year ago I was rereading my way through all of his we own.

Humidex seems to be peculiar to Canada as a measure of heat. Just found the front page of 'The Star' and it looks as though you'll be a little bit steamy this weekend - the waterfront looks lovely.

I'm trying not to buy any more books, the bookshelf is a complete mess, but whilst waiting for my GP appointment the other day I saw BBs book and paid 50p for it. Nova Scotia author Alistair MacLeod 's 'The Lost Salt Gift of Blood' is one of my all-time favourites.

:) A few years ago I got rid of maybe half my books. Still have lots which I've been rereading, and always find I'm happy I still own them. I have few regrets about the ones I gave away, sold or donated, but occasionally do feel sorry about some of them. Recently read an article which pointed out that Nova Scotia, considering its size, punches way above its weight when it comes to writers. halifaxmag.com/opinions/the...

Years ago I remember hearing something about how the planet has chakras, just as we do, and the one centred on NS has something to do with the heart, or with creativity or something (can't remember exactly) and this is why we don't do well in the way the politicians want us to, you know, making lots of money!

When I go and see my daughter it's like re-acquainting with an earlier version of myself .. she takes nearly all my 'rejects' so I have visiting rights!

Thanks for the link, so many poets - there's definitely a NS 'voice' and sense of place as there is here, in Cornwall (I live near 'our' Truro which also has a Victoria Park, parallel universes!) I feel a 'reading list' coming on ... :-)

Have only been briefly to Cornwall. One of the magical places in the world.

Don't you just...heavenly - pleased you're relaxed enough to enjoy a good read while keeping cool..... I'll have to have a read of that I enjoy a good laugh x

Hi Terri

Glad to hear it’s not an issue, were you prescribed too high a dose, is that what caused the issue?

Hope you’re doing OK otherwise?

Hi Angela

The dose was right but I couldn't tolerate it in one go..otherwise things are improving.

Hope you're okay too?

My ecogram led to an angiogram which showed I had angina, where did that come from...mention that if you need holiday insurance and it costs more than the holiday so no more gentle river cruises for me or any holidays as I am such an expensive risk. I will have to live on the memories of holidays in the past.

Thankfully I'm clear of that, can't tell you the relief..... but know what you mean re hols insurance, hubby has bad heart - heart attack, stents, angina....the first time we flew to Oz,14 years ago now, it cost £1,250!! we've been 5 times and each time it's got lower - lowest been £320, 4 years ago, but sadly he can't fly anymore - got too many chronic conditions now and he's not well enough in himself to go anywhere far - so like you he lives on his memories. All the best Perkey.
