I have now gone back up to 20 mg of pred, as I found at 10 mg I had a flair up. My Dr recommended 12.5 mg but, that did not touch it and I took it for 3 days. I know I should probably have asked my Gp but, I upped it on my own. I feel so much better now and will taper down much more slowly than I did before.

Had to do that earlier this year so frustrating. Haven't managed to get below 10mg ever so now I'm creeping up on it again in 0.5mg decreases hoping it won't notice. Glad you're feeling a bit better now, hope the pred side effects don't bite back!
I would trust your instincts. You may, may be able to get down to 12.5 quite quickly having zapped the volcano, then resume your taper. You know you best though.

Lots of expert doctors say to add 5mg to where a flare happened - it is generally enough and saves tapering that extra 5mg! Hope this all settles down though.
