Good morning everyone. I woke up again with severe headache and sharp pain in my head and shoulder now. My doctor yesterday put me on a 6 day prednisone tapering. It’s a 4mg tab. I took it this morning. Still in a lot of excruciating 😖 pain. Having my MRI this afternoon. I’ll keep you guys posted.

I feel puzzled by your doctor’s treatment of you. Even if the biopsy was clear he can’t be sure that you don’t have Temporal Arteritis in another part of your artery. It would be more usual to treat you as if you had it because your symptoms seem to fit. Prednisalone safeguards your eyesight. It is essential that the doctor gets to the bottom of this. Have you been referred to a Rheumatologist ? Do keep us posted.
Hi Hali12,
I agree with Sheffieldjane that the biopsy may not show the GCA especially if you had been taking Prednisone. Prednisone helped me but it does have it's own problems and side effects and it does protect your eyesight. Sheffieldjane's advice to see a Rheumy is also very good advice, I would do it as soon as possible. I hope the MRI goes well.
Dear Hali, take note of all the wise words on here, especially from PMR Pro. We have all felt desperate and been in that dark corner where you find yourself. Take the pred, let it do its work. Most of us have been on it for years and we're still here, fighting, holding each other up. You will get there, promise. xx
Hey Hali12, Any news for us???????? Did you have the MRI? Any results?
Hello everyone
Unfortunately I have not gotten any news. But headache is still there. Pain in shoulder is still there. I did however got a call from the neurologist office for an appointment though in July prednisone not helping on Day2. I’m going to wait over weekend and call my doc on Monday. It is closed now. I am however still getting sharp pains between my shoulder blade. I’m very tired and exhausted even if I doing anything around the house. Please let me know is it normal to still have numbness on the side where the biopsy was done. I have no feeling sensation above the incision.
