I just watched Trust me i am a Doctor. They covered GCA, but no mention of PMR. Should be on catch up.
GCA: I just watched Trust me i am a Doctor. They... - PMRGCAuk
GCA
Yes, just watched that too.
I guess in about five years we'll get to see that episode....
Hi Heron, You can get it right now on BBC2 I Player or Catchup
I'm not allowed to view British (or USA) tv on line, something to do with the rights. I think the only way is to cheat the system by concealing where my computer is, and I'm not tech savvy enough to do that. Annoying because we get the programs, eventually, on our cable tv. Promotions keep telling us Trust Me I'm a Doctor is all new on BBC Earth (the only BBC channel I subscribe to), but in fact the programs are several years old.
Oooooo thanks!
Thanks for the heads up!
I watched it too. Reasonable coverage, I thought. Best feature on GCA I've seen. Mentioned that education is needed for doctors as well as the public. Asked a number of patients what their symptoms had been - which demonstrated that symptoms can vary (only one mentioned overwhelming fatigue, though) - and twice showed a highlighted list of what to look out for. Did mention that symptoms can come on v quickly, and emphasized the importance of immediate treatment, and why (risk of sight loss). Showed Prof Dasgupta using MRI scan to diagnose - preferable to temporal artery biopsy, if available. Good overview, I thought, plus helping to raise awareness. Surely they're bound to repeat it, but it should be available on BBC iPlayer.
