Big toe pain this morning

Hi well this is wierd, I woke up this morning to a very painful big toe. It felt a bit like cramp , Throbbing etc. I had a Pilates class at 10 which did seem to help. The pain moved to ball of foot. And it’s still a bit sore now, tea time, although better.

The toe is tight to the next toe, if you get my meaning, just how cramp would affect it and is painful if I try to straighten it.

Any ideas ?

It’s funny because yesterday I was talking on a thread about raynauds and how my hands were affected but not my feet.

Should of kept my big mouth shut 😼

Hope everyone doing ok with this nice British weather 🌞

Gout? Poor circulation? Ingrowing toenail? I would go to gp and get it checked out.

Yes I think I will see Gp as you suggest, it’s the fact it just came on suddenly that’s odd.

Toe nails are fine it’s more the joint I’d say,

.

Thanks for your swift reply x

No probs. My brother and late mum had gout. It used to kill them and my bro hobbles when it's bad.

I’m interested in hearing the suggestions of others as I’ve got one toe (next to the big one) that has been killing me for over a eeek. I wondered PMR? Artheritis? Broken?

Hi Insight,

That’s interesting as on my other foot I have exactly the same toe that used to hurt, next to my big toe, like you.. But I think this is one that I stubbed.

Maybe you should get it checked out at Gp.

Best to be sure what we are up against x

Good luck

No need to be sorry - it made me laugh. 😃

My second toe has a ridge of hard skin where it presses against my big toe. It gets so sore if I don't pumice at shower time. I often soak my feet in warm bowl of soapy water and get rid of hard skin. The difference is amazing. I have bought wider trainers and walking boots etc and that stop scrunching toes together. My little toe was disappearing a couple of years ago. I treated it like hammer toe and it's reasonably okay now.

I guess maybe it’s a throwback of PMR, who knows but you are very good tending to you toes like that. It’s a part of our body that we tend to ignore or take for granted, yet it’s probably one of the most important areas That needs care .

Treating yourself to a chiropody appointment when you have PMR is a good idea!

I have the same toes on each feet are very sensitive even to a point where my sock touch’s and it’s sore. It as mine did go away eventually just make sure they don’t blister.

Let’s hope they improve soon. Take care

Well I have gout in my big toe...(only there). Mine gives me stinging pain occasionally and I step on it and it stops. Hope it improves as the day goes on.

Hi. Best get it checked out 9lives. My experience of gout is that the joint is barely touchable, hot & throbbing. Often treated initially with anti inflams. I've been on Allopurinnol for years because it kept coming back & that's sorted the problem. Hope that helps.

Hi Carole (9lives) I have been fighting this for 9 months and I have had stiff hands which have got bigger, and I have found I have to wear socks in bed if I wont my feet to work in the morning.

Before PMR I had no hands of feet problems.

Hi Timelord

I love the name,

Guardian of the galaxy or PMR , ?

I’m sorry to hear that , must be very painful for you. Is there nothing they can do to help you?

My hands are a bit arthritis too but not too bad .

I rang my GP at 08.30 this morning and by 09.30 I’d seen her and had a blood test and was home. How’s that for service. She thinks it may be gout but not convinced. Possibly inflammation . Will get blood results on Monday x

I’ve just taken some co- codamol and that’s really helped a lot

Can’t fault my GP surgery

I hope you find some relief from this awful pain.
