Hi All,

I was told yesterday at the pharmacy that prednisolone 0.5 doesn’t exist in the UK... is this right?

Yes that's right. To my knowledge you can get 5mg 2.5mg and 1mg. You should get the 2.5mg and some Uncoated 1mg pills that you can cut in half with a pill cutter. It's worth it because as you are probably aware 0.5mg can make a big difference.

Yes thanks I am reducing by 0.5 at a time my body seems to react better to this kind of drop.

Yes, the lowest is 1 but you can get 2.5. I am reducing by halves and take 5/2.5/4x1 which brings me to 11.5. Hope this helps.

Yes that’s right that’s more or less where I am now, at 11mg. 5+2.5+1 in the morning and 2.5 in the evening. Planning to come down to 10.5 mg next week so will take only 2x1mg in the evening. Many thanks for your help C🙏🏼

You can get coated 1mg in the UK , I've been on them for a while.

Pharmacy quite correct, but I’m surprised they didn’t advise you can cut uncoated 1mg and offer to sell you a pill cutter!

I get 1mg and 5mg, as the 2.5mg are coated. I am currently on 3mg, next move will involve 5mg tablets and surgery with a pill cutter. After that the cutter will operate on 1mg as needed.

Doesn't exist anywhere in the world - not just the UK.

If you are on uncoated pred: 5mg and 1mg and you can use a pill cutter to halve them. If you are on the coated variety (red 5mg, brown 2.5mg and yellow 1mg) they must not be cut but down to 2mg you can combine them to make 0.5mg different doses.

Yes have the uncoated version. Will look for a pill cutter. Also I think in France they have the 0.5 so will look at that too. Many thanks 🙏🏼
