Just my other Joy

Just sometimes we all need cheering up with this roller coaster of PMR. So this is another way. Pi gets me up and out of bed every morning and gives me exercise too, sometimes short sometimes long. A great asset to this illness. Believe me.

Adore Jacks - they are such characters. We had one for years- she was a working dog and a real killer when doing her job, (once she tussled with a fox in the garden - what a racket that was at 5.30 in the morning - good job we had no neighbours then).

She wasn’t best pleased when my husband retired, but she soon became a real lap dog in her older years. We had her for 15years.

My husband couldn’t move an inch without her being there. I think he loved nearly as much as he loved me...but not quite!

She was similar to yours, but when little had really black rings around her eyes, so got named Dusty (ages us!)

After My husband and I split up he has certainly become my dog. They are so loyal. PI was also a rescue dog. I got him at 8 weeks old. He is my friend forever. So nice DL to speak on this site with hope and happieness. I know for some it takes time. We have all been there and some people on this site are just starting. Xx

Very cute! I watched a dog show on tv last night. Not Crufts but Scrufts - a competition to find the best mixed breed (or Heinz57!). Some lovely personal stories attached to each dog, some rescue. I would have had to give them all a prize!

Pi is a good name.

My ?patterdale ?jack has slowed down of late. We amble a mile together. She’ll chase her ball a little with care not to stress her weakening legs. So we’ve slowed down together. Can’t say that terriers are my favourites, but this one is clever and a good little dog. She’s always been the first to greet any foster dogs and show them the way. And she’ll say a loud farewell to any of our dogs that have died.

My other dog, a staffie (yes another terrier!) never strays far from me, but can walk further and faster. She has been known to abandon her walk with my hubby and dash home to find me!!! OMG was he distressed when he thought he’d lost her! She had a terrible life previously and is a mass of scars. But now she’s learnt to laugh, and rolls on her back with her mouth wide, literally going HaHaHa! She has a very naughty grin when she gets her own way....which of course never happens ;) we run a tight ship here at The Dog House.

Two dogs is not many for me, but I’m rather glad there are only two while I have PMR.

I also have a young cat, rescued from the street. Crazy, mad, wild thing he was, but 18 months on he’s learnt the joy of cuddles. Only when he’s in the mood though! He also enjoys a play fight, but now his claws are retracted, so it’s purely for fun. Good job with steroid skin.

I also have a 13 year old cat. They adore each other. PI knows he is the boss. Meaning the cat.

Cats are always the boss. I had a B&W moggie who sorted all my foster dogs out. One meeting with him, one pat on their nose (he never ran away) and the dogs knew cats were sharp and spikey and not to be messed with. He was 21 when he died. Such a character.

I think our dogs just accept us as we are, good day or bad day. They just take the day for what it is.....which can teach us a lot. But they’re great companions who don’t expect too much of us. At 7 tonight my two were staring at me....I realised I was 2 hours late with their dinner, they didn’t complain, just wagged their tails that I’d FINALLY remembered.

He looks like Eddie out of Frasier. And what a lovely, wise face.

Looks just like our Rosie, we had her for about 13 years an RSPCA rescue. She’d been brought in with another dog that was prettier and got homed fast. She used to gaze at her reflection in shiny surfaces for ages. I think she missed her old friend.

Oh, cuddle that pup for me!

Beautiful. Thanks for that. Reminds me so much of our much missed jack russell. The adventures the lovable little rogue took me on! Quarries, foxholes, rabbit holes, badger setts, other peoples gardens, stealing other dogs toys.......He was such a charmer with it & on my case 24 hours. Anything dropped gone in a blink & a serial scrounger off others. Big space in the household this past year. Hope to have another rescue when we're feeling up to it. ATB

My little Daisy has some Jack in her, she was rescued from the streets of Liverpool and was in a dreadful state when we brought her home, she weighed 5 kilos instead of the healthy 8 kilos she is now. Such a character, what, where, when, which!!! are her favourite words.🐕 Would post a picture but can't work out how??
