Something wicked this way comes...UPDATE

Yep. It woke me up.

Three weather lows are converging to form another massive Nor'easter storm for the first day of Spring, and they're predicting a foot of snow for New York tomorrow. Oh joy.

I can feel it. My arms and legs are aching more than they have for months.

A little extra pred this morning. A little brandy tonite.

This will make the fourth storm in two weeks.

I thought it would be over by now...sigh.

NOW THEY'RE PREDICTING 16 INCHES.

Oh, I'm always prepared. Here on "Gilligans Island" we've learned to stock up. Believe it or not, six years after Superstorm Sandy our power grid, transportation and other services are still in recovery. One needs to be self reliant. We could last a month here if we had to.

Wow! Good on you!

Ours in Yorkshire is thawing, the birds are singing, you can smell new growth coming from the earth. Not much longer now...... courage!

That's what it looked like yesterday. Clear bue skies. Warm sun. Calm winds. The cardinals giving a concert. My daffodills are up out of the ground about 6 inches. Grass greening between patches of leftover snow.

Harbringer of better things to come. Maybe next month, though we've been known to have a foot of snow on April 15th.

in reply toSheffieldJane

Don't celebrate too soon Jane. Forecast snow for Easter. But seeing all the spring flowers come up is lovely. I was supposed to pick my new car up yesterday but postponed until tomrw. Just trying to clean and clear my mini to say bye bye.

Noooooooo!

😂😂😂 sorry. My doggie walking friend not pleased either. I think climate change has moved full winter to Feb Mar and possibly April. It was 20us degrees in November.

It was. I remember all the lovely walks through the trees of Sheffield that the b******s are chopping down in spite of Jarvis Cocker’s support.

Thought he lived in France now....or has he moved back after relationship broke down?

He came back for a benefit concert at City Hall on 16 March with Richard Hawley and the Everley Pregnant Brothers.

Don't know this particular chap, but am a fan of anyone who fights for trees.

in reply toGOOD_GRIEF

He was the lead singer in the group pulp in the 90s...common people was there biggest hit. He is a bit of a curiosity in a good way.

SheffieldJane profile image
SheffieldJane in reply toGOOD_GRIEF

He’s a singer and song writer from a successful U.K./ Sheffield band called Pulp. Our Council is attempting to chop down over a thousand mature street trees and replace them with saplings ( cheaper to maintain). There is a very active save the trees campaign thwarting them as far as possible.

I saw that on the weather segment. And by ‘storm’, you don’t mean a couple of inches. You guys have been getting hammered with each of them. I don’t know how the city is still moving. Hope you can stay home and not be required to go out into it. Stay safe and warm.

I'm staying home. Maybe Thursday too if the roads haven't been cleared. I won't risk a fall. I've never been afraid of much, but ice and snow are my terrors, ever since I broke my arm as a little kid playing "figure skater" in the back yard.

Your Olympic dreams squashed at an early age by an accident.

I hear ya, snow and ice aren’t my friends, either. Enjoy your day watching it from the warmth and safety of your home.

I took to the pool instead. Not good enough for the Olympics but good enough for small college scholarship.

Oh, so much for the first day of Spring! Not the sort of weather when PMR feels it has to respond and join in the 'fun' as well. Here in the sunny(!) south of the UK we aren't used to the amount of snow you experience, but this winter we've seen an unusual amount dumped on two occasions now. They are also threatening a third round of the so-called 'Beast from the East' for the Easter weekend. What joy! Plus our clocks move forward an hour this coming weekend but if things don't improve we won't be enjoying long sunny summer evenings for a while yet.

Hope the weather lifts for you soon along with your pains - meanwhile enjoy the warmth from that brandy!

My resident robin just glared at me through the window. There’s plenty of food out there. What can he want?

Prednisolone and Brandy. You have your priorities right ;)

Mom always told me that if I didn't feel well, have a little brandy. And if, after a while, I still didn't feel better, have another. And if I still didn't feel better, have a third.

Because I might not feel any better after the third, but I wouldn't care.

My grandpa had a cure for colds which was to go to bed with a bottle of whiskey and a candle, drink the whiskey until you can see two candles then continue to drink the whiskey until you can blow out one candle and leave the other one lit. I was years before I saw the joke! 😂

It does look as if things are improving here - so just keep your left-overs!!!! However - if I take off my winter tyres before the first week of May it snows the next week. Doesn't matter where I'm living!

Our cousins are coming to ski next week and ALWAYS manage to bring snow - we, on the other hand, have left for a holiday. And usually that means fantastic weather while we're away. I wonder whose influence is greater...

in reply toPMRpro

Never cast a clout til Mays out. Must include car tyres.

Possibly - but the Italians say I MUST remove my winter tyres by the middle of May...

in reply toPMRpro

Does it usually fine up there by then? That was some rugby match..i bet you were popular!

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassador in reply to

It is more that for most of Italy it is sort of mid-20s by then. I happen to live in the bit where that isn't guaranteed! I could keep my winter tyres on all year if I paid an arm and a leg for the version that would allow me to do 160 km/hr which is the max speed listed on the vehicle documents...

PS - Go Ireland!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you there? Are you snowed in?

GOOD_GRIEF profile image
GOOD_GRIEF in reply to

Started snowing two hours ago. About 3 inches on the ground already. They say this will last for some 20 hours. Oh boy.

It's snowing sideways.

in reply toGOOD_GRIEF

OH BOY! I'll bet it's beautiful... but for you, not so much, maybe! : )

Stay warm, stay safe, break out the Brandy!

GOOD_GRIEF profile image
GOOD_GRIEF in reply to

It is beautiful, as long as the lights stay on and the heat comes up.

in reply toGOOD_GRIEF

Hope you are still with us!!

Yeah. Lost power for a couple of hours but back on now.

We got a foot at our house on Staten Island. But its warmed up some and this morning the melt was already running down the hill.

It looks like it will be warm enough that it will all be gone by Saturday.

I'm hoping that's it until next fall, though we've seen as much as a foot as late as April 15th.

Will post some Lucky Dog in the snow pictures when time allows.

Best -
