They most certainly do cheer you up. But they do have their moments. I looked after my 4 year old last night and when in the bath I couldn't tell youwhere he hid his marble. How it got in the bath heaven knows. After a lot of laxatives hey presto. X

in reply to morrison

Hahahahahahahahaha!

morrison profile image
morrison in reply to

Was a worry at the time but you have to laugh. My Father who is 94 has a very sharp wit said that he was a very clever little boy and that by the age of 10 he would be a magician and pop marbles out of his ears. Made me laugh. Ha ha...

in reply to morrison

Too funny! How old is he now?

morrison profile image
morrison in reply to

Still 4 .

in reply to morrison

So you've got a few years to go before he becomes the Great Houdini!

morrison profile image
morrison in reply to

He has the years. Ha ha. When he is 10, I'll be nearly a young 70. Do you have children and grandchildren. My grandchildren make me laugh so much. Just so many little things that mean nothing. Bit like the marble effect. Come to think of it I did take him through a car wash yesterday and he said the shampoo looks like a marble with all the different colours. Also the night ended here with a double rainbow. Food for thoughts. X

in reply to morrison

Hahahahahaha! He's consistent, I'll give em that!

I have 2 daughters and 3 grandsons. Tow of the grandsons (the 19 and 7 year old) live in the US. The 1 year old lives in Manchester, which is about 5 1/2 hours away from where we live. I was very close to the 19 for the first 12 years of his life and yes, HE MADE ME LAUGH!!!!

SheffieldJane profile image
SheffieldJane in reply to

I have 3 grandsons aged 9, 3 and 1 and one granddaughter aged 4, who just emailed me with an account of her day that involved a game called exploding kittens! 😹

The grandson pictured is the one I looked after while his parents worked.

You must have been a young mum. I was 21.

No he's not on the other side of the world. He's right there, under your left breast, pumping all his joy in life through your heart.

What a little smasher, Jane. How old is he? Never thought I’d be a granny as son was getting older and not settling, then suddenly out-of-the-blue he met “the one” three years ago, married and along came two smashers, Zac now 2 and Hannalina just 1. I’m in clover as is Grandad!

SheffieldJane in reply to Celtic

Isn’t it amazing. All that love.

SheffieldJane profile image
SheffieldJane in reply to Celtic

He’s 3.

Celtic profile image

Aah, the trusting threes - he’s a dear looking little chap and I can imagine he makes your heart sing, Jane.

SheffieldJane profile image
SheffieldJane in reply to Celtic

He does. I cared for him for two years and he stayed with me while his brother was born by C Section 6 weeks early and allowing his parents to be at the hospital. We forged a strong bond.

Celtic profile image
CelticPMRGCAuk volunteer in reply to SheffieldJane

That wonderful bond will be there forever,

Thanks Celtic, I miss him.

At least these days we have FaceTime.

SheffieldJane profile image
SheffieldJane in reply to Celtic

That’s what got me pining for him. I sent him a remote control car and he spent time setting it off and getting me to say ready, set, go! Amazing, watching him, as clear as day, playing in his garden.

We got that bit right about the future, but we aren’t wearing silver space suits.

Bring on the kittens!

Celtic profile image
CelticPMRGCAuk volunteer in reply to Mstiles

4-legged friends are wonderful too, Mstiles- loveable companions. We’ve had so many dogs and cats over the years - at one time we had two golden retrievers together with a cat who produced three kittens. Such fun! Perhaps you can post a link to your favourite kitten video so that we can all enjoy?

SheffieldJane profile image
SheffieldJane in reply to Celtic

Golden retrievers are such pleasant dogs, as for kittens well they are just lovely.

Mstiles profile image
Mstiles in reply to Celtic

I will see if my son can help me post one, need tech help! Yes 4-leggeds are wonderful, they don’t care how you look or if you are crabby. Cats in need seem to find me and also my son. Strays looking for a home. He has a beautiful Siamese that adopted him.

SheffieldJane profile image
SheffieldJane in reply to Mstiles

Cats used to find my mum too. They are not daft.

Celtic profile image
CelticPMRGCAuk volunteer in reply to Mstiles

“they don’t care how you look or if you’re crabby”. I agree, and they seem to be so in tune with your feelings that they sense when you are sad and don’t leave your side. As for strays, our very last cat was found lost and wandering in the street, feeding from the refuse sacks when I was doing my evening walk to help my PMR. I brought her in and the amount of love she gave was amazing - amazing that she came when I was struggling with PMR and I just wonder how much my recovery was helped by her.

I think you can only add a picture to a new thread post - not in the middle of a thread.

morrison profile image
morrison in reply to PMRpro

But how do you post a photo over to this website??

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassador in reply to morrison

Lord only knows - who is it on the forum says she loves being a techie????

in reply to morrison

You need the photo to be in a gallery or album you can access easily. Post a message on the forum. It gives you the choice to post a photo. Click and it should give you options as to where you have the photo. Navigate to the photo and select it. It will appear in your post and you can upload post.

Ps I use smartphone and my photo albums and gallery are accessed via the "documents" choice when you click add photo.

You make it sound so easy. I'llet give it a go later.

in reply to morrison

Everything is easy once you kniw hiw to do it. It seems impossible until then. I would suggest writing key steps down because when you come to do it the instructions above won't be there.

Was he thinking something cheeky? Looks like he’s planning something!

Very apt T shirt, ‘there is a light that never goes out’ Him to you, and you to him I suspect.

in reply to SheffieldJane

Hope you have shown the kids the snow in the garden today. A good few inches and has drifted this time. My dog came in covered after 2 mins.

SheffieldJane profile image
SheffieldJane in reply to

Yes, I sent pictures, 3 of them have never seen snow and Theo probably can’t remember. It’s good Snowball and snowman snow- really dry, powdery and adhesive.

SheffieldJane profile image
SheffieldJane

You got that right. Also the sun travels between us. They’ve got morning sun now.

Soraya_PMR profile image
Soraya_PMR in reply to SheffieldJane

Reminds me of when my 2 were littlies and off to cub camp or similar. I’d tell them if they were homesick to look at the moon, and I’d look at the moon too, that way we’d be connected.

It went hand in hand with our regular saying:

~ I love you to the moon.

~ I love you to the moon and back.

I love little boys :)

SheffieldJane profile image
SheffieldJane in reply to Soraya_PMR

So do I. There is something so tender about them. I filled a small teddy with my love and left it with him on my last day. It had been in my bed with me all my visit. He said “ I will love him sooo much”,

morrison profile image

Lovely picture, lovely boy, no wonder you miss him! He won't forget though that time you spent together and that bond that was formed. Good that we can have face time and continue that contact. I've now got 7 grandchildren, ranging from 20 to 1, with twins due in April bringing the number up to 9!!! As an only child who had three children I find it amazing how a family grows. We are very blessed - they are all lovely - 6 boys and 1 girl!! The twins expected are a boy and a girl.

SheffieldJane profile image

Wow that is so lovely. I bet your family get togethers are fantastic. How exciting about the twins. Lucky you!

I am heading to California in 11 days to see 2 of my children that I haven't seen for 8 months. Don't know if seeing them or being in the warm sunshine cheers me more. Booked the trip after a discouraging week of sickness. I needed something to look forward to.

My 3 year old granddaughter tells me she likes me and misses me. ( that might almost be better than love).

Nice post Jane❤️
