I was diagnosed with pneumonia last friday. I have had this terrible headache for 3 days now. I have PMR and I am on a current dose of 17,5 mg of Pred. I worry that I might have GCA. It's a strange kind of headache, more on the skull then inside the head. It's in the neck and the back of my head and in a line from behind the right ear and to the top of the forehead.

Can I get GCA on Pred?
Hi pirnilla
It is always possible and worth talking to Dr about. I had flu in november/ December and headache and neckache definately part of that and through the recovery. I increased fluids and tried to ensure I rested a lot. With pneumonia I am sure you will be struggling as well. It's only a few days into the illness so hope you start to feel better soon..
It is probably part of the pneumonia, you have my deep sympathy and to be worrying as well. While the medic’s attention is fully focussed on you, make sure that they are aware of the danger of GCA and the possible need for a big zapping dose of Prednisalone, which would probably scare the life out of pneumonia too. Get well soon, then take it really, really easy while you recuperate. Best wishes Jane.
Hi,
Like others would be inclined to think pains are related to pneumonia, but as it is possible to get GCA if not on enough Pred just run it past your doctors so it can be monitored.
