Reducing my dose the go slow way.

Just to say I have started to reduce by half a mg a time instead of 1mg. I use the go slow way, more or less, reducing once every 10 days and I am feeling very well. Despite the stress in my life I have reduced from 16 to 13 without any side effects. I’ve had PMR

for four years and have really struggled this year so I am so hopeful as I think maybe I might be getting free of this monstrous complaint. (Not complaining really I know from this site I am much less ill than many others.) Just wanted to tell you all as feel a bit on my own at the moment.😕. Hope things go well for everyone here.

Hi Tonysue, its 1:30 am and Im awake, so I thouht Id stop by to say hello and send you a virtual hug💜. Congratulations on your progress. After 4 years (me too!), we are ready to move past this PMR!

At times, it does seem like we very much on our own...especially when we are facing the changes that life brings... this forum has been a lifesaver for me, and it sounds like you also... its always here to reach across the empty, and give support in those moments when we need it.

Good wishes to you, be well, Jerri

Hi Tonysue,

Great to hear, it’s so pleasing and encouraging for others to know that there are good times whilst still on Pred.

And you’re never really alone, there’s always someone awake somewhere to answer a post. Although I do understand what you’re saying.

Take care.

It's good to hear you're feeling very well. I'm also tapering in 0.5mg steps, but every 26 days! I was tapering 1mg a month, but flared last summer, so I'm taking it very slowly from now on. I don't think I could cope with reducing every 10 days, as that would be 1mg every 20 days, if I've read your post correctly? When you get into single figures of pred, you might need to slow down a bit, but we're all different.

If you click on my name you'll see the graphs I did showing my steroid regime and my blood test results. I'll update it soon when I've had another test.

Me: PMR 20 months - now tapering to 6.5mg

Thank you. It sounds good advice. I will slow down to 20 day intervals as I’ve been feeling tired the last couple of days. I don’t sleep very well as I have a lot of stress in my life. It’s been such a joy to feel so much better I don’t want to risk going backwards. I’ll let you know how I’m doing.

Have a look at the pinned post on the right hand side of this page with various different taper regimes. 'Steroid Taper Web Application'. My 26-day taper is the Dead Slow Nearly Stop regime on there - PMRpro's work! You can print out a calendar with your doses for the month, but you can update it at any time.
