I just heard from a friend that she has a friend who's PMR was stress induced. That is new to me. Hopefully she will be checking the site out soon and can read the responses. It's not always easy to jump in.

Stress induced?
Hello, I think after reading posts here they’ll see that everyone has had a long run of stress or a physical or mental trauma of some sort that pushes their body over the edge and makes its immune system attack the body. That’s where the common theme ends because what those events are is very variable, from an operation to a bereavement, from unrelenting life stresses to a viral illness. As for jumping in, many read posts for a long time before posting themselves. When they do it’s a met with a warm welcome and many find it a good place to have a good moan to those who understand.
Hi,
It’s not new to most of us on here, as SnazzyD says it’s usualy the straw that breaks the camel’s back!
You obviously haven’t read this - healthunlocked.com/pmrgcauk...

Follow the link and then read it and then take part.........there are as many reasons as grains of sand.
We will make her very welcome! She can begin by telling her story or asking a specific question that's on her mind, or just reading the posts to get a feel for things. My PMR was preceded by a period of unrelenting family stress whilst caring for my mum who had frontal lobe dementia until her death 3 years ago. I was diagnosed in March 2016 but had been feeling awful for months. Your friend will find that this is a common pattern. Tell her to jump in, the water's lovely!
There is no single cause of PMR - but stress is enough to upset the immune system (people tend to get ill more) and it has often been the final straw that seems to have tipped an immune system into chaos.
