Breathing difficulties

Was diagnosed with PMR about 4 years ago. On Prednisolone, up & down 20-3... Now on 9 mg. I keep getting chest pain, short of breath, palpetasion.... Heart specialist said my heart is ok. PMR specialist said it's nothing to do with PMR. Does any of you have the same symptoms, on top of all the rest? Any advice? Thanks.

Hi,

It can be a side effect of the Pred, but good you got it checked. We do have a habit to blame everything on Pred or PMR, but it’s not always, so always get anything unusual checked.

It could also be your adrenal glands, as you’ve been up and down through the doses. Might be worth reading this, if you haven’t already - one of the paragraphs relates to shortness of breath etc.

A couple of months back I ended up in A&E thinking it may be unsuitable angina

Pains in chest and very severe sweating my pyjamas Top was wet though.

The first young doctor thought it could be but later in day Doctors upstairs said most likely a flare. I feel they were correct.

A good few weeks later finally saw a Rumi. Which poo plod the idea. 😱

It’s a mine Feild

Have you had a monitor on when you have an episode? I had similar experiences - and eventually it turned out it must have been atrial fibrillation. But you may not find it if you haven't had a monitor on at the time.

I have the exact same reactions when I take prednisones. It affects your set of nervous system and can cause anxiety reactions as well. But I had palpitations chest pains felt like my heart was just not being right. Got checked out and the cardiologist said it was not my heart that it was a side effect of the Prednisone.
