We're not over-keen on the title of 'Older People's Day' on 1 October. But to be honest we can't think of anything better!

But we do like this video, produced by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, which shows you six simple exercises to help prevent falls:

Why not call it senior citizens day kate?

That's what most of us are and it sounds better than OLDER people 😊

When I worked in Health Promotion for the NHS, we used the term 'Older Adults' - just makes us sound a bit more grown up!

Thank you Kate I did them this morning. With the steroid myopathy and the Actemra i'm not sure I have any muscle tissue at all. These were easy enough and probably all I did for the day. Walking is a problem. I don't want to stop the drug because it finally brought me into normal range with my ESR and CRP. Actually the numbers were fabulous. I promise to write my story in full one of these days. Right now I have too many issues with my eyes and muscles and A general malaise.

I suppose there's no getting around the fact that I'm older today than I was yesterday. So, I suppose I don't mind celebrating that, considering the alternative. Call it what you like.

Before retirement (yay !) I worked as an acute care nurse, primarily ortho. We admitted to our floor, on average, two patients with new hip fractures each week. A hip fracture is a life-altering (sometimes life ending) event. So, I'll celebrate Older People's Day by reviewing these exercises along with the ones I'm learning in my physical therapy sessions (post op back surgery).

Stay well, all.
