Is it advised to not eat foods that need hard chewing while trying to rid this symptom?

Suppose it depends how you look at it - if the symptom is there it suggests you perhaps need more pred and need to tell your doctor. If you want to be more comfortable - stick to softer food!

Not a 'pleasant' symptom to have - and not one I have had to deal with - with my 'version' of GCA - which was only ever suspected though and not confirmed by a TA biopsy. Hard to be on that 60mg dose though - at least I found it so as I felt a wee bit 'manic' at times and often rather 'ragged'. But without being an expert I wonder why you are having jaw pain still at such a 'high' dose. I may have missed other posts you have made recently and don't know all the background but it is at least possible the inflammation is not being adequately controlled even at this dose and therefore needs further consideration/discussion.
