Are you on Pred Tarzan2? If so it is not enough. Those symptoms are reminiscent of my early days of PMR.

Tell us more about you.

Tarzan I really feel for you. Please try and see another Dr. You need to get some help with pain relief whether it's pmr or any other issue but from symptoms as others suggest it's sounds typical. Hope you feel better soon...

THAT is disgusting. No wonder A&E gets overloaded. And the reason for a home visit request is usually because you can't get there - so to get to A&E you'd have to get an ambulance. Which REALLY isn't the idea...

Can't believe that. Which general part of world are you in

My daughter is a paramedic in Yorkshire. Where she works they CAN'T say go to A&E - they are both 20-odd miles away...

The hospital about 2 mile from my home

Tarzan2 in reply to PMRpro

I don't think my doctors think about that x

None of the medicines you are on will give you relief from the main, painful symptoms of PMR. Any chance of returning to the original doctor and telling him/ her what you are going through? Maybe get a referral to a Rheumatologist.

It feels odd talking to a Tarzan when I am a Jane.😉

Check out the list of resources on this page: patient.info/forums/discuss...

Look at PMRGCAuk.org, (main UK charity) or just type in PMR into your browser - that will give you a long list of sites, reports etc, some are better than others, but you will find lots of info. Depends whether you want straightforward plain speak or more medically detailed.

And coming off Pred cold turkey like that wouldn't help matters. I would report that doctor! But that is easier said than done.

24th July? that is far too long to wait. try getting an urgent appointment preferably with a different doctor.

good luck

I know what you mean about doctors. But don't forget, you are the reason they have a job. You are a sick person. They are supposed to help sick people, that's what being a doctor is, or should be, all about! But it is a good idea to write down a list of all your questions. And sometimes it helps to have a companion who can observe and take notes for you during your appointment.

Like many people I find it easier to advise what others might need to do in circumstances you are in but I find it difficult to go to drs and explain exactly what is going on. The 24th is a while off. I don't know if you have local walk in centre. I have gone There several times when no gp appointments. Early morning are supposed to be quieter and I was told Sunday 8am quietest. Otherwise you have to wait a couple of hours. I don't know if that helps you...you get to see triage nurse then Dr if needed.

Please let us know how you get on. There is no virtue in suffering in silence. Unchecked inflammation can do a lot of damage. Do take written key points with you to a doctor and maybe a friend or relative. Don't be tempted to minimise your symptoms either. Perhaps make a note of all symptoms in a typical day - head, neck, shoulders, arms ,thighs ,groin area ,hips ,knees ,ankles ,even hands and feet. Usually both sides. Couple with extreme fatigue and flue type feelings. Do you recognise some of this areas for pain?

Tarzan2 in reply to SheffieldJane

Yes a lot of them areas have pain

I had that too but only thing that has helped is Prednisone...if it is PMR which they can tell from blood work then for me it was only thing that worked. Good luck

The blood works been done several times

I have learned on here that people can have PMR with nothing ever showing up in their blood tests, they are diagnosed by a positive reaction to a steroid dose of 15 - 20 mgs a day within hours or days at most.

Fibromyalgia, arthritic conditions and other culprits do not respond like this to Pred.

Diagnosis can be a process of illumination.

This does not make it easy for the sufferer of the doctor unfortunately.
