I am a whole different stage with gca than you as I am off prednisone for a year. But am on actemra infusions and am wondering how others on the infusions feel. It is wonderful to find others who have gca....in 15 months I only know one other person.

My Mom has GCA (diagnosed last September, but had been ill since May) and in order to taper the steroids, (she was on 60 mg a day for about 7 months and every attempt at taper was a fail) she started on monthly infusions of Actemra. She is now down to 10 mg a day of Prednisone and continues to receive the infusions. I find the Actemra has given her relief in some areas and absolutely is helping with the tapering. She continues to be fatigued, but I do see her slowly, and I do mean slowly regaining more awake time than before and she is not feeling as much pain, if any in her thighs/hips/legs. I know this is a very slow process and at any minute she could go backwards, but my positive attitude and drive to help her get as well as she can be for 83 years old, keeps us both moving forward and on top of this illness. How wonderful that you are Prednisone FREE!!
