Recently, I posted that I was having this test to see if my adrenals are working sufficiently. At that time, The Consultant wanted to put me on a completely different drug, 3 days prior to test. I told them I was reluctant. This afternoon, I had a call from the hospital saying I was to stop the Pred the day before test, which is this Sunday, and also on the actual day i.e. Monday.
I don't want to think the worst, but can anyone tell me, to what dosage Pred would I have to go, should my adrenals not be ok. Sorry, that grammar didn't sound right?

It depends entirely on you as an individual. I was diagnosed with secondary adrenal insufficiency some years ago and apart from a few months on 7.5mg (to test the waters) I have been on 5mg since then.
It's generally accepted that the norm is between 5mg-8mg.
Depends on how un-OK they are. The "physiological dose" is said to be about 7.5mg of pred - the equivalent to the amount of cortisol the body requires. That is about the usual level.
However - if they were to decide to manage you with hydrocortisone the numbers would be higher - but it is still the same effective dose.
Had the Synacthen Test, yesterday. Will get results in a week's time, from my Endocrinology Consultant.
