I have a query about my medication if you can help? My GP said it was fine to take my thyroxine and prednisolone at the same time but I am beginning to wonder if I may not be getting the benefit of either to the fullest extent. I was thinking of moving the prednisolone to the evening. Any advice welcome. I have been taking both since 20th of Feb having reduced prednisolone from 15mg to 12.5mg on the 20th march.
Have managed to go back to work and other than getting fat, being tired and still having some shoulder pain I think I am one of the lucky ones. Diagnosed quickly and supported by GP and work!
Diet starts tomorrow!

What makes you think that? Pred is better taken in the morning for most people for various reasons but there is no reason for not trying it at night - if it doesn't keep you awake it may work better for you.
However, you may find these threads from another forum interesting:
I take preds with breakfast at 6.00pm and take thyroxine in the night when I wake up to go to the loo so I am taking it on a empty stomach .
I have reduced form 15 in Sept 15 to 8.5 at present, weight is begging to fall of with out even trying but all the while I have eat healthily and still put on weight.
Don't be in a hurry to reduce when working I work full time and am sure it takes longer to reduce when working .
Same here ... I take my thyroid meds during the night and pred in the morning with breakfast .... I go to Slimming World and am losing weight at a steady pace
Hi Julie, thyroxine should be taken on an empty stomach and pred with food....I take my thyroxine as soon as I wake..it's on my bedside table with a bottle of water...then I can take my pred with breakfast when I'm organised.
Oh wow - I've been taking thyroxine for over 30 years and nobody has ever told me to take it on an empty stomach!!!! I just read the leaflet and it confirms what everyone is saying. Change of routine needed for me. Thanks everyone. Lesson learned!!!
Always check with a Pharmacist, they are your best friends..........they know about drugs and it takes them 7 years in total (last year working under a Pharmacist, they have to complete this before they are let loose of Josie and Joe Public.
I take both thyroxine, pred and a handful of diabetes pills too . I was diagnosed at a similar time to you and am hoping to start work again next week,. I do stagger my pills and try (not easy) to take pred at either 2am or 4ish am. Today I took it at 9am and I am paying the price - it is a bad day today.! I have put on 7 lbs in the last 6 weeks which doesn't fill me with joy either. Good luck with work.
Well work has gone well and I have felt so much more positive! I still have aches and pains but I am lucky so far will let you know how the pounds go up or down
