Dry eyes? Eye bags recommendation...

Some one on the lupus forum has written this today:

healthunlocked.com/lupusuk/...

"I know a couple of you guys use these already, but I went to the optician (a new one) Tuesday and after briefly looking at my eyes he said to get an eye bag and use it for a couple of weeks and then go back for the test!

I'd given my history - lupus, dry eyes, under Moorfields for this and high eye pressure etc and he said that dry eyes can effect the eye test so better to sort first.

SO.... reason for my post is, it works! I was a bit dubious to be honest but I've significantly reduced my need for drops since using 3 times a day first thing in morning, middle of day, and before bed.

So as I began, I know some use already but for those who don't, I seriously recommend it - Just thought I'd share!"

Are these available in other countries? I clicked onto Amazon but it appears to be available in England.

It would be lovely to discard my morning ritual of warm flannel with tiny amount of baby shampoo as recommended by the Ophthalmologist.

Thank you PMRpro for posting this article - most informative :)

I just ordered it thru Amazon in the US.

If, like me, you don't have a microwave, and don't want to fire up the oven, there's a gel mask that is heated up using boiling water - eyesoothe.co.uk/ - can't be used in the microwave or oven, though. Works for me.

Did you look at the pdf for using the Eye bag? The guy obviously has a sense of humour ;-)

in reply to PMRpro

I hadn't but it's one of the funniest things I've read for a while. Had to google to find it - the results included a less amusing paper called 'Randomised masked clinical trial of the MGDRx

eyebag for the treatment of meibomian gland

dysfunction-related evaporative dry eye' (I haven't got the the end yet...)

A useful recommendation. Thank you. I have dry eyes due to Sjogren's Syndrome. I know I mess about on the laptop far too much and it will do me good to be forced to relax with a mask over my eyes.

Just read this as browsing and am going to give it a try, got dry eye some years ago due to acne rosacea, they said, and now, many years later, have blepharitis. Currently cleanse daily using cotton bud with either cooled boiled water or Johnson's baby shampoo - eyes not too bad at moment, at least I've got a full set of eyelashes back!
