Yes, I think so. But be careful what kind of fats.
Goodness, that takes me back. I haven't heard that diet mentioned since the early 1950's. It's pretty much what we suggest, but as Heron says be careful with the fats.
Probably not with the PMR per se - but it does probably help to avoid weight gain when on pred. But as the others say - not high fat, normal fat and protein and low carbs is better I think.
Yes it does work x my hubby been clear for over four years of type two diabetes and lost over three stone x our son has lived this way for the same time and is strict in his diet and he was very over weight and now bounces around with so much energy x I lost a lot too but took longer as I have underactive thyroid but was told from the consultant that I would never lose any weight but I did and it was about four stone x now I have GCA and pmr and other things so my weight has creeped up with all the steroids but they have now tried another tablet but it will take weeks before I know if they work so in the mean time I have to reduce steroids xx good luck If you try this way of living. But give it time and it really works xx
Yes, it has really helped me with my inflammation levels. I have GCA, not PMR. Over the first few months of doing HFLC, my crp level dropped approximately 10 points, which I personally think is quite significant. It dropped from around 17 to 8. The most important thing though, is that I feel physically better on this diet. I've now been following the diet for 15 months.
It's working for me. Four weeks in and feeling better, less pain, clearer head, more energy and 9lb lost so far.
You have encouraged me to give it a go Griggser, just over a week in and despite having the cold/ cough bug do feel better for it, as you say less pain and stiffness, but still the fatigue. Also wanting to do it to help my high BP, which is gradually coming down but still on three BP pills. Lost about five pounds which is great. Fingers crossed I can keep going, reading about your success is very encouraging, good luck to you too.
