Hi everyone, I just wanted to know what HD1 is. I just had my results from dr and she said that HD1 had to be repeated in twelve months. Anyone know what it is? Everything else was fine.

No

Since being on Preds my Cholesterol has gone up and now have to take Statins to lower it .

Just make sure you watch your diet and have then retested in 1 year .

Confusing - and I'd be asking my GP for more details and what she means.

There IS a blood test called HD1 or plectin but I really can't think of any reason to do it in a PMR patient nor would I think it is a routine test. Have you had any blistering or other skin abnormalities?

Dr said that my bloods were fine but she wants to do an hd1 test in a year, that's all I know. Funny you should mention skin abnormalities as for the past few months I've noticed little wart like lumps appearing on my shoulder, arm and heels, why, I don't know. I put some wart treatment on them but they went septic and turned into sores which don't seem to be healing. I bathe them with warm dettol water just to protect them from anymore infection. Will mention it to dr next time I see her. Many thanks for reply pmrpro.

Did you not ask the doctor? I doubt Dettol water will make a lot of difference and you do need them looked at if they aren't healing. They may just be keratoses - something that can happen with taking pred (and anyway as you get older) but they may not be.

Interesting about the warts as I've developed a couple of them recently... pred to blame, or just one of those things???

Depends what they look like - as I said, keratoses are common with pred.

Thanks PMRpro... they have been identified as OK so far but I'll keep an eye on them.
