Swollen artery in neck - should I be worried?

I have had PMR for 3½ years (since diagnosis) and am now down to just 1mg daily. I have had pain/aching on the right side of my neck for 3 or 4 days and noticed today that I can see an artery pulsing at the front right side of my neck, just above my collarbone. The pain is actually much less today, almost gone, but I've never noticed this artery pulsing like this before. Should I be worried? I have my usual appointment to see my GP in just over 2 weeks.

Hi Jean,

In a similar position to you re dosage, and yes I worry a bit if I get an unusual pain or occurrence - which is quite natural after all we've been through. But very often we worry unnecessarily.

Many things can cause odd aches & pains, just lying differently in bed for example. If your artery is still concerning you tomorrow why don't you ring the surgery and ask for advice, and of course, if you get any other symptoms then go to A&E if you can't get help from your GP.
