MST continus is morphine sulphate, an opiod pain killer.

Odhran4, are you on MST continus for PMR, and, if so, is it proving successful? To date, Prednisolone is the most tried and tested treatment, and appears to be the most successful.

It's for my fibromyalgia, and I still be in a lot of pain so don't think it's helping now as I have been on it at lest a year and a half I think my body is so used to it now

This community is for those diagnosed with either PMR, GCA or both, so I'm sorry but unless there is someone on here with Fibromyalgia alongside their PMR/GCA, we are probably unable to be of much help to you.

However, from a comparison study between PMR and Fibromyalgia carried out by one of the trustees of our Charity, PMRGCAuk, and a member of the Fibromyalgia Association UK, some years ago, I understand that, as well as analgesic painkillers, low-dose antidepressants and lifestyle changes can help with Fibromyalgia.

If you try antidepressants and they don't prove successful, perhaps you would be wise to ask your GP to refer you to a rheumatologist who hopefully will be able to confirm whether or not you do, in fact, have Fibromyalgia or if Polymyalgia might be a possibility.

Good luck!

I am currently on MST 15mg twice per day for low back pain and it isn't doing much for that either, although it does take the edge off. I have refused to go on a higher dose as I still want to be able to drive safely and as I have been on it for several years I know what to expect with it. I was told by the chemist that the problem with MST is that after a while you have to increase the dose to gain the same relief.

I read somewhere that there has been a breakthrough in fibromyalgia and they have found a link between it and certain blood markers, but I haven't gone into it fully as don't have it myself.
