Thank you all so much for your encouraging and supportive replies, at least I know I am not alone, I have decided to try and be more self affirming when I see the GP and ask for that trial dose of Pred. I am so grateful for the information. Will keep you posted.

Good for you! The doctor I saw when I first started experiencing debilitating pain was useless. Saw her several times over the course of nearly a year. Fortunately she left the clinic and I saw another GP, who had my diagnosis within a week! Three months later I feel so well I have nearly forgotten what it was like. (Currently on 9-10 mg prednisone, down from 15. I walk every day - bought a pedometer and do my 10,000, including everyday mucking about - eat well, take my supplements, and try to get more rest than I used to.) Key thing is, it's your body, you know what you feel like, and the medical people should be there to help you.
Good for you ,take someone with you if you can help to have extra ears also make a list of points you want to address. Fine is a four letter word not to be use inside doctors office broken down it means
F =Fed up or any other f word
I=insecure
N= neurotic
E= emotional
Good luck
