Hi anyone else get odd pains/symptoms with their PMR. Over the last few days I have started to get a cramping feeling in the base joint of my little fingers. Its almost as if the joint is dislocating and I can move if back. I think I started it off today rubbing fat into flour. Really odd. Anyone else with odd symptoms?

Hi have pain in thumbs, very much like a tooth ache which went away on 15mgs of Pred but is back now reduced to 12.5mgs. Perhaps a mention to your Rhuematologist although they seem more interested in the larger joint pain in my experience. This disease affects us all so differently. Good luck, I hope you get some relief and most of all are listened to.

Hi jane, I think you're right, Gp not too interested in the minor joints. Doesn't stop it been painful though. I'm currently on 10mg with improving ESR so will see what next blood test reveals.

Hi mintymow , I was diagnosed 5/6 weeks ago and have just reduced to12mg pred from 15 a week ago. My pain and stiffness has increased slightly but - yes - I have suddenly started with pains in my thumbs. My pains seem to move around from day to day and there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it!! I also seem to be getting a fair amount of cramp in feet and legs at night. I'm hoping we'll all come thro this eventually!!

Hi Pattinso, I also find the pains move around from day to day, very odd, and I was getting quite a lot of leg and feet cramps. My Gp recommended drinking a glass of tonic water before bed and I do believe it has helped. Worth a try perhaps. I have reduced from 15mg to 10mg and not feeling too bad. Apparently my ESR rate has improved as well. Another blood test in 4 weeks. Hope you try the tonic water and it helps.

Thank you for the tonic water tip. It makes sense because it has quinine in it and my rheumy prescribed a RA drug with quinine in it I had to stop taking it after 3 weeks because the other ingredients made my heart race. I will get tonic water in tomorrow.

I'm willing to try anything if it will help to get back to some sort of normality. , shouldn't complain as its early days for me -some people seem to have been suffering for years. Might try putting a bit of gin with the tonic.😋😋

Ha ha, as long as the gin doesn't detract from the quinine which is what helps the cramp :) My diagnosis is about the same time as yours, so all very new and thankfully not suffering as much as some seem to.
