I am afraid I do not live in Northern Ireland, but it does seem like you have come off steroids quite quickly so your PMR may not have gone into remission and could be flaring a bit if you still have pain. However it may just be getting over the steroids of course, which can take a year or so.

I'm not in NI either. I've had Polymyalgia for nearly 2 years am am down to 5mgs a day of prednisolone. My GP let's me reduce when I feel is right. Normally that's about every 3 weeks, but it's 6 weeks since I last reduced because I've put extra strain on my body recently. PMPro will hopefully reply to you. She's is Italy but is very knowledgeable about PMR. Hiope you find someone in NI also.

As already revealed - I'm in Italy! If you can use the forum - you can chat to all of us, it just takes a bit longer!

I think there is another lady from Northern Ireland on the Patient.co.uk PMR forum.

And as already suggested - maybe you need to be on a low dose of pred still. In older patients there is possibly a lack of adrenal function that contributes and a low dose for longer often makes a lot of difference to their pain and stiffness. Ask your GP if they would consider trying you with 5mg to see if it makes you feel better - it is a low dose and unlikely to cause much in the way of side-effects.
