I’m sorry if this is the wrong forum, I just picked the first one because I’m in agony and can’t see too well.

I’m a 20 year old Girl from Scotland. I have Polycystic Kidney Disease, have since I was born. Since Sunday I’ve felt very unwell but that’s nothing new for me, I just took some of my pain relief and tried to keep going. Monday, it was very difficult to pee and my left kidney was in agony. I phoned the Doctor and have an appointment for next Monday. I’ve progressively got worse, and the kidney pain is now excruciating. I was up all night vomiting, even just when drinking water. I also passed out briefly and now both of my kidneys are in agony. I phoned 111 and they said as long as I’m not peeing blood, to just wait for my appointment on Monday. Surely this isn’t okay? I’m terrified somethings going wrong with my Kidneys as at my last nephrology Visit he said my Kidneys were VERY big now, and the number of cysts had tripled. I’m very unwell honestly now, I can barely pee at all. Should I go to A&E or actually wait for my appointment?

Thank you so much, Kim x

That sounds like it could be kidney stones/infection. If it is, you need to go to A&E. I'm not a medical doctor, but it does sound like a possible emergency to me. Can you call 111 again and asked them how they can rule out infection? do you have fever? Not peeing for a few days needs to be investigated!

I’m do sorry for the late reply, I couldn’t go on my phone and I passed out again... I’ve had a quite high fever but I’m now freezing and can’t stop shaking. I’ve called a taxi and just heading down to AE I’m too ill and I’m far too much pain to stay home tonight. Thank you so so much x

Go IMMEDIATELY to the A&E! You don't want to risk losing a kidney. Whoever told you it's ok unless you see blood in your pee should have their license removed! Thinking of you - let us know how you're doing.

Shaking, throwing up and a fever are all symptoms of kidney stones colic. They should give you an ultrasound.

Thank you so much for your comments! I’m sorry for taking so long to reply, I’m actually just out of Hospital! I passed out again, and was taken to Hospital by my Mum. Investigations showed a very VERY severe Kidney infection, kidney stones, burst cysts, and bruising on my left kidney. I was very ill in Hospital and was basically just lifeless for days on a drip! The Doctor that told me to wait until Monday, is actually being investigated apparently, the Doctors in Hospital weren’t happy about it at all!

Thank you again, I hope you are as well as you can be ♥️

Oh I'm so pleased to hear you're ok!! If you had waited until Monday you would have probably list your kidney. At best. Well done mum for taking you to the hospital!

Glad to hear from you, Kim! How are you feeling now? Hope it's getting better! Stones can take a while to sort out, but antibiotics will hopefully help with the infection. Sounds like quite an ordeal, and quite a collection of stuff you got there, I don't envy you!

Wishing you all the best!

Anke

Great news! I am glad to hear that you made it to the hospital. Some medical staff needs to have their license revoked. I hope you are feeling better with each passing day. 💚
