Lung infection

Hi, can a lung infection go on from 2020 to date? I have a face to face with Brompton on the 2 March 2022. A&E have said it’s lung infection, I have been getting re-occurring chest infection since 2020 to date, as I have one now. I have a rescuer pack. Has anyone had lung infection? Thank you Nicola

Hi Nicola, it is possible to have a chronic infection but it's worth asking the Brompton this directly, as they will know your specific history. Hope you feel better and get answers soon x

Thank you for your message. What does chronic infection mean?

It's where you always have an infection - usually 'low level', simmering away kind of infection. Then sometimes you will hear doctors mention 'accute exacerbation' which tends to mean a sudden deterioration of your infection. This is quite common in PCD, particularly as people get older. There is a slightly different way to think about this, which is about 'am I feeling worse than normal' - as someone with PCD, this is how I manage thinking about my lung health. Hope this helps. Please speak to your doctors if you're worried - sometimes you just need a bit of reassurance and someone to explain this stuff to you! Lucy x
