Any advice about good Travel Insurance companies to use, what to say /specify should I say I have bronchiectasis leave out PCD/ Kartageners Syndrome? Should I get my family covered on same policy as me ( I have 3 young children and a husband all in good health)? Thanks.

Hi there. It is worth taking out travel insurance and like you I have PCD and bronchiectasis. I do mention both as important.

So if you haven’t had any recent hospital admissions then the cost of for an annual policy is not too much (works out cheaper if you go away regularly).

I have used Insure and Go in the past but cant remember if they accepted me last time but this time I chose travel insurance via the Post Office. They all ask you the same questions online. It’s just a case of seeing if they cover your condition.

Probably work out better insuring whole family together.

Hope this helps 😊

I agree with the first answer, you really do need to mention PCD, as well as having bronchiectasis secondary to having PCD. If you do end up needing to make a claim, for whatever reason, and they find out you have not fully declared your medical history, they could decline any pay outs, even if the claim was for something not connected to PCD. You will usually have to go through a separate medical screening phone call where they will ask you some pretty standard questions, from a tick list.

I always had a good result using Europ Assistance (worldwide travel, not only Europe, as the name would suggest). We always took out a family travel insurance policy, for my husband and daughters. Anyone in the family that had been ill in the previous year would be referred for the medical screening line, which I would call and give them the details, plus my PCD details. It's really not worth not mentioning any conditions you have, as insurers will always try to find a way out of paying claims.

Have a good holiday!

From my own experience, I would recommend travel insurance if you precooked a large trip (cruise or multi day tour), if your at risk for disease, elderly, booked an extreme adventure (rock climbing), traveling with family, etc. But if you live in the US, have major insurance, and booking with a travel credit card, travel insurance might not be worth the added cost.

Hi All,

I've been looking for travel insurance for a while now because I am starting to go to the USA for long-ish spates of time. I'm 27 and have had multiple admissions and antibiotics. I noticed that my old travel insurer (All Clear) had become offensively expensive and decided to look for other providers. I always read the reviews of people who have made claims because it's easy enough to write a good review about buying the insurance itself but it's important to check how people have found the process when they have actually needed to make a claim.

I was so disappointed to see that All Clear wanted to charge me £750 for 3 weeks to the USA or £1500 for an annual policy, because I've had 2 unplanned admissions and 4+ courses of antibiotics this year. Really glad that I didn't use All Clear as the only comparison website out there because I checked on Avanti and it was SO much cheaper. Not only have I been able to get annual worldwide travel insurance for £600, but this also includes an extension pack that will allow me to travel abroad for up to 90 days at a time. Finally - Avanti count Bronchiectasis WITHIN PCD, so you don't have to declare it as a separate condition.

I've done lots of shopping around for travel insurance over the past years and so far this seems to be the most comprehensive, transparent and cheapest (given the circumstances) that I've found.

Hope this helps - will update if I ever need to claim.

Thanks for your reply. I was about to soon send a message about my quotes! I’ve gone with a company called Travel Insurance 4 medical which cost£616 for a worldwide annual policy for myself, husband and 3 children. We are going to South Africa for 10 days. I chose the annual policy because the quotes I looked at were similar price for a single trip policy that included cancellation and annual policy. I have not had any unplanned admissions but what bumps up the price for me is the question about whether treatment/antibiotics has resolved the problem I can’t say “yes” to that because I have colonised pseudomonas for 20 years so I’m never going to be rid of that which no doubt increases my risk profile in terms of insurance. I played around with the medical screening to see what factors bumps the price up and unplanned admissions and unresolved infections are factors that increase price. All Clear wanted £505 for a worldwide single trip cover.

you should expect a plan will cost anywhere from 4%-10% of your total pre-paid, nonrefundable trip cost. For example, if you purchased a trip with a total cost of $5,000, travel insurance policies available to you will likely range in price from $250-$500, depending on variables. forpc.onl/vidmix-for-pc/ jfi.cam/jiofilocalhtml/

Travel insurance is a plan you purchase that protects you from certain financial risks and losses that can occur while traveling. These losses can be minor, like a delayed suitcase, or significant, like a last-minute trip cancellation or a medical emergency overseas. mybk-experience.onl mcdvoicesurvey.onl/

Hi! I have travel insurance with my bank (Barclays) as part of a package I pay for every month.

We needed to book some flights to SA for a wedding hopefully going ahead in October. 😬🤞🏻So rang up and checked everything with them before booking.

They were happy to still insure me based upon my medical history and also that I’ve have no recent admissions or problems, which I was pleasantly surprised at!

The insurance is attached to our joint account so covers both my husband and I so that may be worth checking out?
