hi

I got diagnosed in 2020 and had I fibroscan that came back f4. I know that means cirrhosis but are there more stages. The only symptoms I had was itching which has now gone. I do have tired spells but nothing too bad and a slightly swollen stomach but that might not be to do with this condition

Ask for a biopsy. Fibroscans aren't always accurate imho. I was diagnosed at stage 4 in 2007. There are many here that have been stage 4 for a long time but the following by drs becomes different.

If you are in cirrhosis - my dr & I are not big believers in fibroscan results. You could ask for a biopsy to confirm. That being said there are 4 stages of cirrhosis as well. The first two being compensated and the last two being decompensated. You can stay within them for a very lonng time. Personally I was diagnosed stage 4 PBC stage 2 cirrhosis so no idea how long I'd been there, unable to take urso and still didn't transplant for nearly a decade. I know others that have gone 25 and even 30 years. We're all so different it's hard to give any time frame. Take care of yourself the best you can.
