My intermittent fasting journey has started

I am only a couple days in to intermittent fasting. Im doing 16/8. I feel ok so far, I feel like its more daunting when I think about it. Im not really hungry, but its a diff routine and my brain needs to catch up. I take my medication in the evenings like I always have. And I drink water and coffee with a bit of sugar free creamer in my non eating window. I already feel less bloated. But def start off small if you arent sure how youll feel, its all a step in the right direction. AAnd do research and cone up w your own conclusions. Even w the same disease we are cookie cutter and it may not work for you. Ill try to remember to update in a week or so!

Good luck! I have been doing it for about a month and it really does help. I do, however only do it three days a week.

Been doing intermittent fasting ( usually about 20/4 ) for about 2 years now. I cut out sugar , breads, pasta, and most processed foods. I feel fantastic and accidently went from 150 lbs to 124 lbs. It all started with trying to be easier on my liver. Sugars are difficult to process.

Good luck and God bless, Anni

I was told by my Gastro to take 3 x 300mg tabs a day…I thought I had to space them out and have them only with meals..which I find difficult as with my fast I only eat at 12 and 6pm.. will see a hematologist soon to get more clarity.

I have heard a lot of people take them all at once, so I take 2 in the evening and 1 in the morning. I have never taken them with food and they don't seem to bother me. I hope this helps.

Blessings, Anni

Would u mind me asking the dosage you take for two tablets. I just checked my pills and they say 3 times, I think in the morning, but I’m worried about taking 900 mg at one time…the Gastro didn’t give me clear enough instructions…I may email her because I’m confused..it’s only been two weeks since I started urso. Another person on this blog takes their pills at night so not sure when the medication is most effective.

it also depends if you take pressed powder pills or capsuls. I def hhave to drink alot of water w capsules or the powder hurts my throat when they open. They all also have different costs too.

Mine are 250mg 3 times a day Tablets not capsules. I take 2 in the am and one in the pm. I think it just needs to always be in your system. Not sure that it matters when they are taken.

I take them all at once at dinner time.I’ve had no problems.

My prescription says take with food. How long before the med kicks in so I don’t feel a throb in my back right side…I was told I’m at the early stage of PBC.

I asked my hep recently about this and he prefers that I space it out and take it with food. I take 500 mg 2x a day and I do 16/8 IF. I eat at ~ 1pm and finish eating ~9 pm. I drink 2-3 mugs of coffee with milk (no sugar) in the morning.

I think he said he doesnt want the meds to bother me and it is better absorbed with food.

Thanks. I think taking meds with food does help…I’m now taking two tabs at 12 and one with dinner at 6:30…like you IF and only eating two meals a day.

May I ask what you eat/how much during your eating window?

Larrysgirl profile image

I mostly eat meat( steaks, ground beef, sausage, chicken mostly.) and eggs(chicken and duck) with very few veggies. Mostly broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, lettuces. My eating window is usually about 1 hour somewhere between 2 and 6. I only eat one large meal a day so it's never at the exact same time each day.

Blessings

technically anything you put in your coffee breaks your fast (cream, sugar free sugar, etc).
