New to Health Unlocked

I’ve been with the yahoo PBC group for years and learned a lot in that time. I’m looking forward to seeing what this group offers. I was diagnosed with PBC/AIH overlap in 2006, stage 3 at that time by biopsy. I’ve had no further testing but now have cirrhosis and although I’ve had about 13 good years, am now having more problems. I think the PBC is still compensated but the AIH is flaring due to becoming intolerant of Azathioprine. I’m hoping to find good advice on this site so I can live at my optimum health level as long as I can. I forgot to say that I am 69 years old.

Welcome! I hope you will find this forum helpful. An online support group only works when people interact. When you read a post show your support by “giving it a heart”, post a simple response or share your experience with the same issue. Any of those will help someone not feel alone on this journey and we have all been there!

Dear Mimiof1,

Did you ever consider to ask your hepatologist if you can take Budesonid??

It is cortison special for liver disease and almost without the cortison- typical side- effects.

Take care.

I was on budesonide for 6 months in the hope that it would be able to replace the prednisone but had to go off it due to it causing extreme edema from head to toe. Once I was taken off it, the edema resolved.
