AMA 2 results.

My daughter has a positive AMA 2 reported back not as a titre but as 2560.0. Also ANA positive, speckled titre 80. Does anyone know what that means and how the AMA 2 result can be translated to titre. Thank you

Every lab has differing "normal" results. What is the reference range for the lab that did your daughter's AMA M2? ANA titer of 1:80 isn't very high. ANA just shows a probable autoimmune disorder and speckled would help point them in a direction. What does the lab say is normal? Most are up to 80. It can also be positive with certain drugs as well.

Hi, that’s the problem, the test results just give that figure, no range. I asked about titre, reply was they don’t do that. I am in the uk. This all started when my daughter was prescribed sertraline for post natal depression. The itching started within a couple of days. Itching became worse and she went back to the go who did blood tests and came back as liver enzymes were “deranged”. They stopped the sertraline and the itching settled down and liver enzymes began to return to normal. Initially haematologist diagnosed form of blood cancer, then Hodgkin lymphoma, then said it was not that. Then they decided it was pbc. I personally believe it was drug induced liver injury. Two and a half years on they have now prescribed urso and told her to google pbc! During this time she has had another baby. I feel so frustrated because she has been passed from pillar to post and it seems the medics don’t want to answer my questions.

Perhaps try the PBCers.org uk group if you don't get answers here. None of the uk sites seem to have reference ranges which is odd

I've only gotten a couple replies from people whose results weren't a titer. One suggested they just don't put the 1:x; another person's was reported the same as yours but had units by it and then the normal "units" was given beside it. As each lab has different norms, you'd still need to know the norms for your lab. Try calling and asking for the normal range
