Several years before being diagnosed with PBC (though, in retrospect, not without symptoms), I lost my sense of smell. This could be entirely unrelated to PBC, but wondered if anyone else had experienced this?

Lost sense of smell?
I too have lost my sense of smell.
Hi. Not lost sense of smell but do lose sense of taste when symptoms come on !

No lost sence of smell here, I tend to smell everything before I eat or drink it, it's a habit I have had for many years.
I have lost some sense of smell, but, some things taste as if it was bad, salmon and pilchards which I used to love, but, now taste as though it's gone off, so cannot eat these anymore. could that also be to do with pbc?
Oh, bwswave I was hoping NOT. I love, and have always eaten, seafoods/shellfish (of all kinds) but have noticed over the last 6 months or so, they seem to taste 'off', so have stopped eating them ;-( Actually, the tasting 'off' is not confined to shellfish alone, there are quite a few foods I can no longer eat - and I have been linking it to PBC.
As far 'the sense of smell' goes, no I haven't experienced that, but I have developed a heightened sense of smell, which sometimes can be a good thing, but sometimes not so good.
I havent lost my sense of smell but I had a spell in the past when I lost my sense of taste (sort off) and everything I ate tasted vile and bitter.
