can you please describe exactly what this feels like.
Fatigue and tiredness.: can you please... - PBC Foundation
Fatigue and tiredness.
It is difficult to answer your question because everyone is different. I am having one of those days today. I didn't get enough sleep last night and now I don't have any energy. I have to rest when my body says so and sometimes I just have to get up and move even if I don't feel motivated. I hope in some way this helps you
Thankyou Healthangel. I was wiped out after finishing work yesterday, I had no energy and was completely exhausted, this continued till lunch time today, I also had a headache and felt a bit nauseous. I am quite new to this and see consultant on Monday, I have felt tired like this in the past but have put it down to stress and strain of work and a busy life. Also if I walk too far I get pain in my feet, I had always just associated this with rushing around and doing too much but now I realise it could be symptomatic of PBC.
Sometimes the tiredness hits me and it feels like when you pull the plug out of a wash basin I can feel the energy running away. I have been known to have to sit on a wall or even a door step untill I can get the energy together to carry on.
Yesterday i went to M@S in the morning then in the afternoon I made an apple pie. Ended up having to have a lie down. I feel this helps. when you feel the tiredness coming on lie down even for 20 minutes. The flatter the better. Not just sitting down. I have my family coming to dinner tomorrow and I am worrying already how I will cope even though my daughter has prepared the veg and the pies are made.. Pacing yourself is one of the most important things to do. Sorry for rabbiting on. Just trying to help
To me the fatigue feels like I have run a marathon feel totally wrecked and have to rest but even just having a lie down for an hour, r, if lot on, half an hour I feel revitalised and can keep going for the rest of the day. Like all the symptoms of PBC there are good times and bad, in relation to the fatigue if I have had a busy couple o days I find I have to have a less hectic day (when possible with a 5yr old and a 16yr old to care for ) to recharge the batteries. Hope that info helps.
When the fatigue hits me I feel absolutely drained, it's like someone turned off the electric! I cannot do anything, before Urso i was like that everyday, but since being on Urso, I'm having a few more good days, although yesterday I felt dreadful, just needed to rest all day, I'm looking forward to the day I can retire, I seem to have my worst bad days of a weekend, probably after working all week, when the weekend comes around I'm fit for nothing, also when I go away on holiday it takes me weeks to get over the journey.
Its like having th flu achy sore and more tired than tired foggy too
Behind my eyes feel really heavy and I have to close them and sleep. Like Dinny, my body feels like someone has unplugged me from my energy supply! Weird feeling. As long as I listen to my body I can manage. The Urso has helped. Also when I am not working I let my body clock wake me up in the morning. Sometimes I don't sleep well so my body does not recharge itself so this can have a knock on effect on the fatigue during the day. It can be a vicious circle! My bloods are stable at the moment, which helps. Good luck on Monday. Bit of advice, write down the questions you want to ask the consultant. Keep well. X
Its a really strange feeling and can come on unexpected......one minute I am feeling ok the next its as if my batteries have run flat and have no other option but to lie down and sleep, sometimes a cat nap is enough other times it could be a few hours but I wake feeling refreshed and ready to take on the world again.....
I used to try and fight it at first until I collapsed in work, My Dr said it was my bodies way of saying enoughs enough and shutting itself down, she told me I needed to listen to my body and not fight it.... not easy when your in work though..but luckily by not fighting it at home it has not happened to such an extent that I have collapsed but do get the foggy head feeling when its difficult to concentrate and eyes can't focus.
I have found it does take me longer to get things done these days and used to beat myself up about it but don't any more I listen to my body...when at home if I feel tired I sleep, so what if it takes me 2 days to clean the house when I could have done it in one before.....If I am out and about and know I am going to have to do a lot of walking etc I just make sure I have plenty of comfort/coffee stops.
I too suffer with very painful feet and cant walk or stand for long and when having a bad day with the fatigue my whole body aches. I cant read for long either as the words seem to move all over the page.. this can be a real problem for me at work and I find I have to read things over and over again before I can make sense of it...but luckily for me at the moment it is not affecting my work output but don't know how much longer that will last before my boss starts to notice.
Had to smile when you said you find it hard to read. I have had a library book since October
I was diagnosed with PBC 12yrs. ago and have changed my life style over this period to take account of the increased tiredness. It is so frustrating not being able to undertake the work and enjoy my hobbies like I used to.Just one hour of gentle excercise in the pilates class I attend drains me for the rest of the day or an hour of pottering in my allotment has the same effect.
The simple answer is, of course, pack up the hobbies. Fine! but then what's the point of getting out of bed in the morning. I'm determined the tiredness will not beat me. Have been taking urso for six months and do not feel any different. Sorry to sound so negative but that is how the tiredness affects me.
Got to say it as I find it Donkey. Thankfully we are all different and I hope the tiredness is less dibilitating for you.
