Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone out there can help. My back has been aching and I'm wondering is it ok for transplantees to take ibuprofen?

The best advise that I can give you is to ask your Dr. or a druggist/pharmacist. I have not had a transplant but I only take Ibuprofen when I have to as it is the only Non-drug pain reliever that works for me. However, I have been told that Ibuprofen is tough on the liver. My personal assumption is to do as with everything else - all in moderation - but please, ask the medical person that did the transplant. -
While I was waiting for an operation on my back and in great pain I was only allowed to take paracetamol. It didn`t do much!
Do get the correct advice for you from your specialist if possible or your doctor.
I haven't had a transplant, but I asked which pain reliever I should take that won't affect the liver. The Pharmacist said to take Acetaminophen. Your situation is different. You should get in touch with your Doctor before you take anything. I hope you feel better soon. Judi
Seek professional advice. You don't want to take any chances with your precious new liver.
