Crones

My Mother has been diagnosed with crones in her 70's so I'm here to gain knowledge and to share information from her. She's just been green lighted for some funding for a trial medication or a special course this is last chance stuff now to avoid removal of part of the intestine Thank you for any advice you can give me on her diet I understand she can't eat nuts anymore as they really set it off.

She's being treated at Southend On Sea university Hospital (local ) this illness is really affecting her life negatively she was a carer all her life up to 3 years ago even when I visit she gets frustrated at the visits to the loo that hold her hostage. My Dad is supportive and not 100% that well and my older Brother is an Asperger sufferer who lives with them.

As for myself I'm an addict in recovery who has been clean for a year and I drive so can help in that way giving lifts etc but my Mum is still able to drive she has a car and likes to be independent but she also likes to make use of her bus pass so I've very rarely been called upon but I visit a lot and communicate online with my family it's just that I'd love to try and mine some useful information that can aid her more to relief the pain etc

Hi fusedplug1 can I say well done to you for being in recovery, and I hope that does not sound patronising in any way as I truly mean it. But also to say how lovely that you are able to be so supportive of your family. There is a group on here, Crohn's and Colitis Support, who will probably be able to be of more help to you. I am not in that group but I am sure they would be as kind and supportive as this group.

My father had Crohn's disease and my mother colitis. Both of them had no choice but to have the operation which left them with a bag. My mother who did not pass until she was 89 came on holiday with me one year around the age of 87 and I managed to help her with her bag to get into the swimming pool. She was very nervous about it but having watched a YouTube video of a young man surfing with his bag she thought "why not".

I am sad not to be able to help more with diet suggestions but as I say take a look at the above mentioned site, I found it from the search box.

🙂

Thank you for reply and your supportive message .. yes it's inspiring to know that people can still live life unrestricted even with the bag etc, I know my Mum being so independent and mostly insistent on helping others will find it all a big impact but I'll just help her to soldier on
