Going back to school

I’m in America and have decided to go back to school at 56 years old.

I want to know about nursing or the medical field. Do you think that it’s a possibility for me being that I have autoimmune hepatitis and pbc?

I have a couple other medical issues but I’m not worried for them. I will start out with on line classes.

My last blood work and ct scan was fine. I would like to see my alp lower but it’s still normal. It’s high end normal but normal.

Hi Jenny, I think it's fantastic to start a new career at a later stage in life. I wouldn't let pbc hold you back from doing anything you wanted to do. You're well enough now and let's hope it continues. Good luck xx

I am concerned that because I have pbc and aih and sometimes I have to take steroids. I was also diagnosed with blepharitis. So far I respond well with medication. Just the steroids makes me react very petty and argumentative. Am I hireable with my medical situation

Great idea Jennyhadenough keeping our minds active and stimulated is as important as exercising our body. As you are able to start on line it is possible that by the time you want to attend classes a vaccine will have been approved to protect us from the virus. good luck and let us know how you get on.

As an aside I qualified as a chiropodist (in America and now also in the UK podiatrist) as a mature student and loved my work.

best wishes

I recommend it. I went back to school to become a paramedic at 50

And I never regretted it.
