So sorry to read this jaws58. Normally it is only paracetamol that is recommended and I guess this will not touch the pain of shingles. I know its a nuisance but I think you need to go back to the GP or phone the secretary of your specialist and see if he/she can recommend a stronger pain killer. I think so long as it is short term there are other medicines that you can take.
best wishes
Hi jaws58
I took lyrica for shingles but your doc needs to prescribe what is good for you
I hope you were adequately treated for shingles with an antiviral such as Acyclovir. Without knocking down the virus, pain will increase as it attacks the nerves.
If you're talking about residual pain from a previous infection of shingles, you need to talk to your doctor about adequate pain medication to control this as it can be quite severe in some people and require prescription pain medication. If you have cirrhosis from PBC, make sure your GP and any pharmacist know, because pain meds in cirrhosis patients needs additional care.

I well remember that pain when I had shingles the year before I was diagnosed with PBC. I hope you find relief soon!
