Gilbert syndrome
Yes i think so you can get genetic test for gilberts i think a high bilirubin is an indication of gilberts hopefully others on the site can help you more
Hi, my husband has Gilberts and one of his sisters has just been diagnosed. It is high bilirubin that is an indicator. Apart from occasional yellowing of eyes it doesn't bother him and does not interefere with his daily life, unlike PBC which I have. He declares it at medical screening when buying travel insurance but there are never any questions on it and it doesn't affect the price. Hope this helps a little.
The Gilbert syndrome has nothing to do with PBC. It can exist completely independently. Slightly elevated bilirubin is the marker for it.
Hi there.
I was genetically screened for GS and it came back positive. As my bilirubin was high all the time it was very important for them to know whether or not it is high due to PBC or due to GS. I'm in the early stages of finding this out so I need to delve deeper. Hope this helps.
