Any insights?

I was diagnosed in October 2016 with PBC. The AMA test was ordered after repeated elevated liver function numbers and chronic fatigue. Liver biopsy confirmed cirrhosis. Both the AMA and smooth muscle labs indicated high positive. I recently had my bi-annual blood work and all the liver function numbers are well within the normal range (thanks to Urso!). My question is: does anyone know why the AMA and smooth muscle tests need to be repeated since their levels do not indicate the progression of PBC?

That is a great question. Since diagnosis, my hep has not run ama or smooth muscle labs. He says alk phos is what he watches.

Interesting my guy seems to be more concerned with ALT recent bloods came back levels almost normal ALP within range ALT slightly raised. Urso seems to be doing its job for me. Although I have now got gallstones which is strange as they prescribe Urso to get rid of those! Strange

Yes my doctor also monitors all the LFT data including Alk Phos. He looks at the trends.

Urso was first developed to treat gallstones & they also discovered that it can also treat pbc.
