Hi, I was wondering if anyone had tried rectal ozone therapy to relieve symptoms and help generate cells.
I have massive issues with fatigue to the point where I am unable to work right now and am looking at alternatives treatments.
Thank you

I've never heard of this. The fatigue is just something we deal with. I have come to the conclusion that nothing truly helps it go away. Could you send a explanation on what this is?

I had severe obstetric cholestasis whilst pregnant with my two boys and from there I've got progressively worse! I've seen a liver consultant a few times because my liver results are always up and down, I've been 'officially' diagnosed with chronic fatigue system however I'm due to go back to the consultant in November! In the meantime I've gone to a Naturopath who spotted straight away that my liver is in trouble and has started the ozone treatment! I've had 2 so far and I have a few more good days than bad!
I was just hoping for some reassurance really that this does work!
I just really feel like I'm on my own here because I've been written off with CFS by my GP!... hence my looking for alternative treatment! It's got loads of research on the internet which I've read and seems positive.
Have they said your tiredness is definatley down to your pbc
Hi Janine, no I haven't been diagnosed with pbc at the moment, I'm awaiting a liver biopsy. The tiredness has been put down to chronic fatigue syndrome even though my liver blood results are always abnormal.
Hi MissT137
I am not sure that I like the idea of anything that is rectal, it always seems to me that the direction is out and not in but if you have had a couple of good days since starting the treatment then it seems like it is worth a try especially as you seem to be having problems getting a diagnosis. I see that you joined two years ago - it is a long time to battle on your own. What part of the country are you in? Some areas have a better understanding than others and perhaps you could get a referral to a centre of excellence dealing with PBC. With the length of time you have been battling this I am sure you will have tried most things but I am copying a link from the NHS web site in the hope that it may offer you something of interest.

Once you get a diagnosis of PBC you may be offered Ursodeoxycholic Acid but this only helps regulate your blood test numbers, it will not help with the fatigue. I am now retired, I do not often meet the brick wall of fatigue but when I have overdone something I am able to collapse on the bed or sofa.
Are you a member of the PBC Foundation, free to join through the icon above, the member's section has some interesting articles which may give you some alternative ideas. I learned from the PBC Foundation to use YouTube for guided meditation and visualisation techniques for sleep, positivity etc. I have found it very helpful.
Hope some of this may help, let us now how you get on.
best wishes
I've just been put on 5000mg twice a week, I've only just started with this a few days ago. I'm due back to work on the 6th of Sept and if I don't, I'm facing Ill health retirement so I'm going out of my mind with worry! I'm a single parent to 2 young kids ☹️
Do you mean you have been put on Urso? Or Vit D?
Also do you test positive for AMAs (antimitochondrial antibodies)? If you do, and your liver function tests are abnormal in a way that is typical of PBC, then that is usually enough for a diagnosis of PBC. Try to get copies of all your tests, results and GP (consultant?) letters (in the Uk, GPs surgery should give you a copy of recent ones, but you may have to pay for copies of older tests. Have these to hand and then talk to the advisors at the 'PBC Foundation' - they host this site on 'Health Unlocked' - link to their website at top of page.
Hopefully the biopsy will clarify the situation - although it would be helpful to find out exactly why they have called for one, unless AMAs were absent but they suspect PBC or something similar - but a biopsy should make all clear. But I would still talk to the 'PBC F' ... also, read around on here and on the 'PBC F' website as much as possible, as it's always good to know about our conditions. Also check the 'British Liver Trust' site, also on 'HU' and very helpful, in case it's liver, but not PBC.
Hope this helps: meanwhile, eat well but sensibly, low fat, veggies etc, and try to rest, get gentle exercise - every day, if possible - but don't push yourself madly, or when you feel really tired. Also spoil yourself and do things you enjoy: de-stressing always helps with conditions like this, so coddle yourself and also have fun.
Take care.
