Fatigue pattern?

Hi there. I'm just wondering if anyone experiences one day fatigue = 2/3 days complete melt down from exhaustion. I seriously have to prepare for a day/eve out. I read this is common in ME. There's a name for it but can't find it on the www just now. I've never experienced anything like it! Thank you!

I've found the name: post-exertional malaise. "Post-exertional malaise usually does not develop until the day following the activity. It then takes several days to improve." This is what I get. Anyone else?

Would like to point out I hate that term as it's not what I would picture as malaise but rather complete melt down of fatigue everywhere from brain, muscle power, energy etc. It's like my body is telling me "no more". "STOP." Like my body is packing in. But then I get 1-2 energetic days pw. Really sounds like ME. Can they coexist?

Hi Scoutfinchlondon. Yes, that sound like me. I can push myself to do quite a lot but I reach a point that I can't function and only thing that helps is to sleep. Yesterday I started work at 4am and then had a few other things that I had to do. By the time I got home about 5ish last night I was struggling to move - even thinking or talking was too much effort. It doesn't happen regularly but I do lose days now and then where I sleep all day. I agree with you the only way to describe it is 'meltdown'.

Hello your description sounds very like how I am, occasional better days, not many but if I do much compete exhaustion needing days and days to recover.I would say this fatigue has completely changed my life and doctors don't seem to understand the enormous impact on patients and their families.I know the liver damage is the major long-term threat and as I have cirrhosis at 53 it does threaten my life expectancy quite significantly but the fatigue has affected me for 13 years or so now even before diagnosis, it affects every part of my day every day.Your post hit a nerve I think rather Fed up of it all today!!!

Let's hope they find something to help this soon for us all.
