I suffered terribly with obstretic cholestatis from 32 weeks. My symptoms haven't cleared up like they should have and the itching and fatigue is worse than its ever been!
I had bloods on Thursday with the nurse and the doctor called today to see me first thing Monday (panic mode) he did mention to me last week when I saw him about PBC as a lot of my symptoms fit and he is a very honest doctor!
It could be something and nothing but I did the worse thing and goggled it! I'm now full on panicking until Monday morning!!! Also if anyone has any tips to calm the itching it would really help!
Thank you xx

Well for the itch try some moisturizers and I take a Zyrtec to calm myself so I can sleep but my doctor presto bed Benadryl first but it never worked out.
Itch is the worst and I'm still suffering with it.
I am a retired midwife and we used to prescribe E45 for itchy skin. Hope this helps, my friend has obstetric cholestasis with all her 3 pregnancies and she does not have PBC......in my experience liver function usually returns to normal post delivery
Hi sorry you had that to deal with and a new baby!.I understand completely. ..16 yrs ago I had my 4thchild he was born 5 weeks early after I was induced as he had stopped growing. He off to college soon. I however had horrendous itching fatigue nausea etc.theu thought it might be cholestasis but I had a biopsy after 3 mths this showed pbc.i know this is scary but I did improve after a few months and I also had glandular fever whilst pregnant and that they think knocked the pbc much further on than it would have been. I also had symptoms from about month 2 so I'm hoping that will mean you have a better improvement than I did. Of course you may still find it was cholestasis...crossed fingers .if you want to talk I would be happy to. Do try and get as much rest as possible ..if you get offers of help take it. As far as the itch is concerned keep as cool as possible don't wear socks.eat little and often .I had prescribed vitamins so hopefully they will check your levels especially a.d.e and.k.dont panic I am now 52 and my 4children are doing well. Best wishes cazer.
Sorry for such a long reply.should have said that there are several different medicines for the itch.antihistamine helps with sleep it doesn't get rid of the itch but numbs it down a bit. Obviously wait to speak to the doctor for meds.if it does turn out to be pbc just remember there are a lot worse things to have.cazer.
Oh my dear, do please stay calm and wait for the facts, you may well have something temporary and easily resolved but even PBC is not so terrible and there is much research going on which you are young enough to benefit from.
Regarding the itch, I find it much worse if I get hot, so try and stay cool, tepid baths may help followed by moisturisers. Also I believe the stress may be making things worse for you. Your post birth hormones must be trying to settle and these can affect things. I hope the baby is thriving and you are getting enough sleep.
I do hope you will have good news very soon, do let us know. Chin up. x
