Dx 1/2014. My concern is my alk phos?2010 w... - PBC Foundation
Dx 1/2014. My concern is my alk phos?2010 was 75 now has climbed to 245. Should I do further testing? Feel like my doctors say "that's PBC!"
When you say climbed , has it been gradual or in one test? All phos is like snap shot of a moment in the health of your liver And loads if things can cause a temp rise in readings inc a common cold or sore throat. If All other tests were Acceptable then just go for your regular tests. Stress also affects alk phos readings. We have to have some faith that doctors are reading our results and treating us correctly
I was dx with PBC in 2014 with elevated lfts but the alk phos always seems to stand out because it was a gradual but steady climb. Just curious? Thanks and Yes faith is needed!!
Mine has been climbing over the last year when i was first diagnosed ,it is now 718
What is a normal Lft score? When should a person with PBC be concerned?
I cannot tell you offhand what is considered within normal range LFTs as I've not got my blood results with me but you would find that from area to area that the normal range is slightly different.
You can see for yourself on your print-out of your blood results (it is wise to request one each time, I do regardless of it seeming to really put the GP surgery out - well it is a bit difficult just hitting the print button on the computer keyboard!).
There is apparently a different graph for PBC and the blood results. I expect when the bloods reach a certain level then one should be informed by a consultant on what to do next.
"normal" LFTS range from country to country and from lab to lab. My last Alk phos was 500 and my ggt was 553. But I am not on meds yet, nor do I have a diagnosis. I go to my GI in March. In the US the Alk phos should be no more than 145 or so I think. But not 100% sure on that.
