Got appointement with GI doc. Have to wait a month to see him.

Just letting you all know that I have finally gotten a GI doctor. My area is relatively small, so no liver specialists locally, but this doctor does have a history with my family and has liver patients. Bad thing with it is I have to wait a month to see him. I know I am relatively stable, so no reason to go nuts or anything, but just thought I would get to see him sooner.

It is so frustrating isn't it when you find someone you think can help you, you can't wait to know if your hunch is true, but you have to wait because he is busy. I know just what that feeling is.

Good to read that you have got your appt with GI doctor. I got an appt for Hepatology back in 2010. I originally saw my GP early March that year but after blood tests and more bloods then ultrasound scan by the time he referred me and I received appt I had 13wks to wait. Didn't see the doctor until beginning Nov and then had to wait until early Dec to be told I had PBC.

This is England though and under the NHS. There is apparently a cut-off timeline that you have to be seen if you are referred to Outpatients and it has to be within 18wks so I suppose you could say I was lucky BUT calculating to diagnose it actually took 19. But the clock doesn't start ticking until you see the doctor for your first appt here and because the consultant sent the results to my GP who had to inform me and give me a prescription for urso he was actually within 17wks. Was my GP who seemed to drag his feet when he got the letter from the hospital.

I had my bloods taken and liver scan done in January and have to wait until the end of March for the results! This is for a diagnosis by the way! I have AMA and a few other symptoms but have not been formally diagnosed... They don't give a monkeys about anxiety! So your not alone... Things will happen.... eventually... Take care x

I'm in the US, so we usually don't have to wait as long to get in, but my issue was more finding the doctor I wanted. The first two I picked had moved out of my area. I don't live in a major metro area, so a hepalogist is going to be out of the question unless I travel. But sometimes specialists take longer to see here.
